The pressure vessels during history
The most interesting thing is that the researches showed that pressure vessels were mentioned for the first time in 1495, in one of Leonardo Da Vinci’s book called “Codex Madrid I”. Da Vinci is known as a great painter, but also as an intelligent scientist. He described pressure vessels as containers of pressurized air which had the role to help lifting heavy weights from water.
The place of pressure vessels is more important in the history than it seems. They played an important role in the industrial revolution, back in 1800s. Nowadays, such devices are widely used in chemical, petrochemical, biochemical, food processing, refrigeration and energy industries, especially in Dubai which is well known as a highly developed industrial city. But also countries such as India, Austria and Spain began to be increasingly interested in this domain.
Pressure vessels are generally made of rolled carbon steel or alloy steel. But when it comes to its components, a pressure vessel is composed of the container itself (which has a jacket, a charging connector, a connection for safety valve and a support system), the mandatory equipment and the interior equipment designed for technological purposes. Theoretically, pressure vessels can have almost any shape, but the most common is the cylindrical one.
But there are also moments when the pressure vessels can be damaged, due to the highly level of pressure. It is important to know that they must be repaired by authorized persons because they can be really dangerous. The pressure vessels may explode and cause a lot of damage. Over time they have been few such incidents, but if you are carefully you do not have any reason to worry. When it comes to pressure vessels, every country must comply with a number of laws.
This pressure of the vessels can usually vary from 0.5 bar to 500 bar. But it depends on the legislation of each country. Each vessel has a kind of safe system which is represented by a valve. The role of the valve is to ensure the pressure is between the normal limits. Otherwise, the vessels can explode.
